Looking Forward to the 2021 Season

Spring has sprung at Tinicum CSA! The greenhouse is gradually filling up with baby spinach, scallions, kale, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, napa cabbage, cabbage, radicchio, parsley, bell peppers, eggplant, and cherry tomatoes. By mid April we’ll be transplanting the first veggies out into the field and your farmers will be officially starting in on the 2021 Season.

This time of year on the farm is fun because of the anticipation of another season of fresh, delicious produce. Last week’s warm weather reminded us that it won’t be long until we have crisp lettuce & radishes in our salad bowls.  Each little spinach seedling is poised to grow into a large-leafed plant packed with vitamins and minerals, and of course, flavor. We’re excited to share this abundance with all of the Members.

As always, we are especially excited about the Pick-Your-Own offerings. I have a fond memory from last summer, walking around the cherry tomatoes during a Saturday Pick-Up and noticing how pleasant it is to be out there picking cherry tomatoes, flowers, okra, & raspberries. Amidst the busyness of the season, it’s important to remember how darn enjoyable this beautiful farm is for friends and family. I’m hoping to take the time to wander around the pick-your-own area more this year.
