Spring is Here!

Spring has sprung at Tinicum CSA! The greenhouse is gradually filling up with baby spinach, scallions, kale, lettuce, broccoli, bok choy, napa cabbage, cabbage, radicchio, parsley, bell peppers, eggplant, and cherry tomatoes. By mid April we’ll be transplanting the first veggies out into the field and your farmers will be officially starting in on the 2023 Season.

And the garlic, planted in October, is well on its way out in the field. My daughter, Althea, and I inspected it last week and it looks like it’s gonna be another great garlic year.

This time of year on the farm is fun because of the anticipation of another season of fresh, delicious produce. The longer days and warmer weather reminds us that before we know it we’ll have crisp lettuce & radishes in our salad bowls. Each little spinach seedling is poised to grow into a large-leafed plant packed with vitamins and minerals, and of course, flavor. We’re excited to share this abundance with all of the Members.

As always, we are very excited about the Pick-Your-Own offerings. I am looking forward to walking around the plantings with Althea and showing her all of the colorful flowers in the flower patch and finding bright red cherry tomatoes together. We’ve already started practicing our colors by examining the rainbow chard in the greenhouse.

If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time to sign up and reserve your spot for the 2023 Season.
