Grandma Esther’s Green Beans

At last we post our first recipe featuring green beans! Many thanks to CSA member Jennifer H. for giving us this post ready-made — you’re the best!


    1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
    1 onion, roughly diced
    1 8oz can tomato sauce
    1 Knorrs bouillon cube – vegetable or chicken
    Vegetable oil
    Salt & pepper


1) Put the onion, some vegetable oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper into a medium pot. Cook on medium heat until onions are transparent

2) Add the green beans, tomato sauce, bouillon cube, and one 8oz can of water. Cook covered on low heat, stirring occasionally, for approximately 20 min — just until the “snap” is gone from the beans. (Add water if needed while cooking.)

3) Serve and EAT.
